Viktoriia Shakhnovich (b. 1998, Moscow, Russia) is an artist and designer. Shakhnovich reflects on the closely related subjects of archive and memory by using an archive of found documents to create autonomous artworks. In her artistic practice, she raises the issues of affect, memory, and nostalgia with a focus on sensing, thing theory, and time perception. She makes work that deals with the documentation of events and the question of how they can be presented. With the help of technology, scent, and text in her works she tells a story or creates a metaphor. A parafictional narratives often play a crucial role in her project, however, the artist tries to make artworks open for interpretation. Recently, Shakhnovich has been working with the topic of digital identity, memes, and routine as a form of reflection on the current geopolitical crisis.

She works both independently and with her colleague Dmitry Olgin. Most of her works are transmedia installations, but she also works with video, smell, and sound artifacts. Viktoriia Shakhnovich currently lives and works in Brno.
