wearable electronic device

aCCTV is a wearable object designed as a necklace that detects nearby CCTV cameras in Moscow. It operates by analyzing the user’s geolocation and comparing it with an open-source database of surveillance infrastructure.
The project emerges at the intersection of speculative design and urban activism. It treats technological devices as extensions of the body, while simultaneously exposing invisible systems of control embedded in the city.
By making surveillance perceptible, the work reflects on conditions often described as a “digital gulag,” where monitoring becomes both normalized and internalized.
